How you think about food might be holding you back

I have to tell you all something…

I LOVE FOOD

Like really, reallyyyy love it. I know what you’re probably thinking — you love food, too…

But here is the thing— I‘m not just talking about the taste. Because obviously lol. But I love food in every way.
Where it comes from. It’s cultural background.
The chemical compounds it contains and how they work with your biology.
It’s healing potential.
Different ways to prepare it.
The power of food bringing people together.
Everything! It fascinates me!

It wasn’t always this way. I didn’t use to appreciate food in this way until I began my food healing journey.

I used just look at food as a tool to manage my weight and change my body composition. I measured my food in calories and macronutrients rather than in energy and joy.

When I decided that I wanted to feel better in my body after years of dieting and obsessing about the shape of my body, I threw out all processed foods, powdered proteins, protein bars, and anything that wasn’t REAL food and committed myself to eating more whole food and cooking for myself more.

This seems simple and not like a big deal but the act of washing and preparing my food really helped me to connect with food. Or maybe I wasn’t so much connecting with my food as I was showing myself that I cared about myself enough to fuel it properly.

Grocery shopping also became really interesting.
Scouting out new ingredients, being fascinated by vegetables I had never heard of or seen. Reading labels and getting curious about what some of these psudofoods actually were. I became really interested in the food system itself— where the food traveled from, processes it has to go through to be supermarket acceptable, levels of processing, etc…I learned so much. Some things shocked me and brought so much awareness to what I was really putting in my body.

All of this has made me so passionate about food and sharing the information with you all. I think we’ve become so far removed from just real food. Because we are busy, because there are other convenient options, because the media has distorted what it actually means to eat healthy. It gets really confusing to be honest. So that’s what I’m here for. To help you sift through clutter, to help you enjoy real food, and to get excited about food! You don’t have to nerd out on it as much as I do, but at the very least I hope you find joy in eating real food like I do.

If you’re ready to reconnect with real food but don’t have the time to cook everything yourself — that’s exactly why Activated Wellness exists.

We’ve done the sourcing, the prep, and the cooking for you so you can experience the benefits of real, nourishing food without adding more to your plate.
